Vineyard

In the heart of our Camargue region, the 110 hectares of vines are divided between 2 main terroirs. We discovered the sandy-silt soils around the Domaine, which are ideal for the production of our oldest Marselan.

We have also found plots of land on the Crau plateau, an exceptional place where Chardonnay and Syrah are perfectly suited. Stony soils, of a clayey and chalky nature, destined for the production of great wines.

The vine

INDEPENDENT

The Domaine is an independent winemaker.

PRECURSOR

We grow rare and local grape varieties.

RESPECTFUL

We work the soil using mechanical processes.

INNOVATIVE

Respectueux

We work the soil mechanically to avoid the use of chemical products. With this same objective in mind, we have opted for temporary sowing and permanent grassing of our plots. This method aims to stimulate the microbial life of the soil, which is essential for the good health of our vines.

Innovant

The vinification

In the heart of the Provence region, the Domaine du Mas de Rey produces mainly rosé wines. The unique range of red grape varieties allows us to produce rich and varied rosé wines. You will find the famous Caladoc, Grenache, Cinsault, Merlot and Syrah. The grapes are cooled directly after harvesting, they are pressed quickly in order to preserve their pretty light colour. The juice is sent to inert tanks. The rosé wines are vinified at a very low temperature in order to preserve all their aromas. A process that requires rigour and control.

Our white grape varieties allow us to produce fresh and lively white wines as well as warm and tasty white wines. The vinification process is identical to that of the rosé. The grapes are cooled and pressed after harvesting to guarantee optimal quality. We take care to mature our white wines in stainless steel and concrete vats or in French oak barrels, especially for the top-of-the-range cuvée. This is a long process that guarantees more aromatic complexity.

Our red wines are vinified in concrete vats only for a perfect thermal inertia. Whether in whole bunches or crushed grapes, pumping over and racking are carried out several times a day. For a better extraction of colour, tannins and aromas, we favour a maceration of several weeks. While some of the reds are matured in concrete tanks, the top-of-the-range cuvée remains in French oak barrels for 12 months for greater complexity and better ageing potential.

Olive oil

WITH OLIVES GROWN ON THE ESTATE

30 km from the Domaine, in the Alpilles, our family cultivates olive trees. The olives are pressed at the Jean Marie Cornille mill in Maussane les Alpilles. The olive oil is available for sale at the cellar and to professionals.
